Natal Rubber Compounders is a privately owned company based in Pietermaritzburg, Kwazulu-Natal South Africa.

With the most advanced  mixing technology, experienced rubber technologists, and a capacity of over 1000 tonnes of compound per month, NRC guarantees the highest quality products, suitable for the most demanding and stringent applications.

We supply a broad range of compounds for the mining, industrial, plumbing and automotive markets.

Natal Rubber has developed a comprehensive range of over 300 compounds to meet various customer's needs.

Compounds are also supplied to customer's own formulations under strict confidentiality agreements.

We work closely with customers on various aspects of rubber technology in order to select the material best suited for specific processing and application requirements.

Compound can be supplied in strip(45mm minimum width), slab(continuous or cut), roller die sheet or calendered sheet.

In order to supply quality products and prompt customer service. NRC has developed and established an integrated Quality Management System which addresses the requirements of ISO 9001:2000.

Process efficiency and product quality are key factors in NRC's Quality Management System.

Manufacturing processes are continually monitored to ensure correct blending of polymers and other ingredients thus achieving consistency and conformance to specifications.

In our advanced laboratory, products are inspected and tested at specified stages of the manufacturing process. Skilled Laboratory Technicians perform standard tests such as MDR Testing, Mooney Viscosity, Hardness, Specific Gravity and Tensile Properties, whilst Compression Set, Rebound Resilience, Abrasion Resisitance and Ageing Tests are carried out upon customer's requests.

Farrel K6 Mark 5 Intermix

Natal Rubber Compounders uses the industry-leading FARREL K6 NR5 INTERMIX, featuring NR 5 rotors and a hydraulic ram, for mixing rubber compounds.

The NR5 rotor design improves ingestion of feed materials and optimises material flow within the mixing chamber, resulting in maximum distribution and dispersion of chemicals within the batch. Batch to batch consistency is achieved through accurate control of all processing functions and exact setting of operating parameters.

Shorter mixing cycles, due to the excellent heat transfer of the K6 NR5, improve productivity and reduce breakdown of the polymer, thus achieving optimum physical properties of compounds. Optimized cycle times and fewer mixing passes are also beneficial when mixing heat sensitive compounds.
